Apologies to the rest of Canada.

The deal sounds sweet, but I’m stuck with my current provider for reasons beyond just 3-year contracts!

Some questions come to mind though:

What about picture or MMS messages though? Are they unlimited, included in the 6 GB, or pay-per-use?

Is the plan limited to the hardware listed or could it be used with an Android handset? What if I have my own handset already?

    Thanks,

    • Preet

Hi Schultzer, I’ll let Phil respond so as to not provide any incorrect info. Thanks, I’ve let him know you had some questions.

    • Phil Kundu

The plan does not include MMS messaging but with 6GB of data you can send pictures as email attachments and not have to worry about exceeding your data bucket.

I can offer this plan with any TELUS hardware (including Android). If you have an old TELUS handset or unlocked non-TELUS device you can use it with this plan. However, you are only eligible for a discounted device when you enroll so if something happens to your current handset and you need a new device mid-contract you will have to pay full price for a new phone.

My suggestion is to take a new device now and either sell it or keep it in a drawer while you use your old phone.

      Regards,
      Phil

can the data plan be reduced.

3 years allot of time to be paying 57+tax.

    • Phil Kundu

Sorry the data plan can not be reduced.

The 6GB data plan is scheduled to be “grandfathered” by all carriers very soon and 3GB will be the new standard.

Over time (lets say over the next 36 months) minutes usage will continue to decline and data usage will become more important. Voice over IP will also become the new standard over the next 12 months which will make the size of your data bucket even more important. (and they say that size doesn’t matter).

Another thing you should consider is that ARPU (average revenue per user) has increased year over year for the last 2 years and $57/month is still below the national average.

Honestly, this plan sounds like a great deal! The 6 GB and the caller ID really make it stand out from others. Everything else sounds pretty good too. If I wasn’t already set this would probably be the plan I’d go for. The only thing I would check is what Costco has to offer its members since it usually adds some “member exclusives” to the basic plans offered by the carriers and those just might be a better fit for your needs.

    Phil that’s good point

how long is this offer on the table?

    warren

    • Phil Kundu

The offer will be valid through to November 19th.

  • blake

How does the $350 credit work? Is it available for each subscriber, or just 1 credit per account?

How long is this offer available? I may want to wait for the Samsung Galaxy S II or the new Galaxy Nexus (if Telus is getting it).

    Thanks

    • Phil Kundu

The eligibility requirement for this plan is minimum 2 users, sorry no exceptions.

The Galaxy SII is due out around the 1st week of November and I will offer a $50 hardware credit for this device once price and release date information become available.

This offer is valid through to November 19th.

      Regards

      • Blake

I realize that this plan requires a minimum of 2 users, but is each user eligible for the $350 credit (ie. 2 users, $700 credit) or is just $350 regardless of the # of users?

        Thanks

      • Phil Kundu

The $350 credit is per user, so $700 for 2, $1050 for 3, etc.

        Regards

    Hey Phil

Can I Tether with this plan?

    warren

    • Preet

I’ll let Phil confirm, but I can tether with Telus. Great for working on my laptop and no WiFi connection is handy – I just create a Wifi hotspot from my iPhone. LOVE it.

    • Phil Kundu

      Yes, tethering is included

  • wchue

    Hey Preet,

i think that’s the deal closer

thanks for being so active with responses

did you partake in this deal?

    warren

    • Preet

I signed up last year when he offered it. It’s $3/month cheaper this year as I’m at $60/month.

  • Ryan

Id love to order 2 iphones. I havent been able to get a hold of Phil. Maybe on Honeymoon?

    • Preet

Hey Ryan, actually yes! He is on his honeymoon this week. I’ll see if I can dig up one of his co-workers to deal with while he is away.

      • Ryan

My apologies. Phil responded very quickly and we got everything sorted out. Great to deal with.

  • Brian

Ooh, I’d love to be able to take advantage of this… I was just thinking of upgrading this week! Only problem — I’m already a Telus subscriber. If I were to pay off the balance of my current phone subsidy/contract (i.e. the anytime upgrade), could I then take advantage of this? Thanks!

    • Phil Kundu

Sorry Brian, this offer is only for new subscribers.

  • Nick

Can you get the iphone 4S 64gb?

    • Preet

Hi Nick, I believe you can. Best to check with Phil. He’s back from his honeymoon now. :)

      • Nick

        Yup. Got 2 64gb 4S’s on their way. :)

  • wchue

Phil drop the iphones off yesterday with my wife using them now great deal!

  • Peter

Hi, Is this deal still available?

    • Preet

Peter – this deal expired November 19th, but contact Phil, tell him I sent you and see what he can do. I think he has another promo he can offer you. Good luck!
