iPad Contest Update… And more site upgrades…

Just a reminder that there is still about a week left to enter the contest to win an Apple iPad. Right now we are at over 3,200 ballots (remember, most people have multiple entries). There are now over 1,000 email subscribers and 700 Twitter followers and over 200 comments. There are around 100 retweets of the contest post as well.

Don’t forget to enter! Click here for the contest post for details. If each person entered has an average of 10 ballots, then right now your chances are 1 in 320 – so what are you waiting for?!

BLOGGERS: I want to make sure I don’t miss anyone who linked to the contest from their blogs. Please send me an email with your contest post link. I’ll publish the list of blogs with links to the contest during the week and I want to make sure I don’t miss anyone so make sure to check that list when it is published to make sure I didn’t miss you. Some blogs don’t have the option to “notify other blogs when you link to them” turned on, which means I don’t see the trackbacks on my wordpress dashboard. Email me by clicking here.

Site Tweaks

Master Archive of All Posts

I’ve added an archive page which lists all the posts I’ve written to date since the blog was created on July 23rd, 2007. There are almost 800 posts. Click here to view the archives.

Useful Tools

I’ve really neglected this area until now. I’m collecting some tools and links from around the internet that I think are the creme de la creme. If you have any suggestions for worthy links, let me know and I’ll take a look at them and decide if they should be included. It is not a blog roll, but there will be some blogs added there if warranted (they will have to be very narrow in focus). It’s not nearly completed as of yet, as I hope to have hundreds of links posted here in the near future. Click here to view the new section, as bare as it is for now.

Behind the scenes updates

The blog has moved from shared hosting with GoDaddy to a Virtual Private Server with Liquid Web. This was instigated by the multiple incidents of the blog being hacked. My hosting costs have increased from about $7/month to $50/month, but the added security and other benefits of a VPS were worth it. I also hired a third party internet security firm to harden the site and protect it from future malicious attacks. I appreciate your patience as the past month has been very trying with the problems created by the hackers. They were not targeting this site per se, as it was happening to tens of thousands of sites across the internet, but I was collateral damage…
